Hair we go! Students enjoy glamorous chance to shine

College of North West London Level 3 Hairdressing students welcomed an opportunity to put their skills to the test at a prestigious dance event in the capital.

Dance Westminster invited the lucky students to help out backstage with competitors’ hair and make-up for the competition at Porchester Hall, Westminster.

Dance Westminster is our innovative project aiming to encourage more disabled people in the community to be active. The project is being run by Westminster City Council in partnership with local inclusive dance company Step Change Studios and is open to people with disabilities aged 10 and over who live, study or work in the borough.

The routines included hip-hop, Bollywood, swing and pop, so the budding stylists did brilliantly on the day to create so many varied hairstyles and makeovers.

A huge well done to everyone involved!

Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty, Charmaigne Krokou said: "It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to go and do the hair and make up for the competitors of Dance Westminster and to start being involved in community events again after such a long time. It was great experience for the students and helped to prepared them for the world of work."
