Our Role

The Student Engagement Team’s key role is to ensure that you make the most out of your time at the College and have the chance to get involved in College life. We do this by:

  • Organising a programme of enrichment activities, events and awareness campaigns
  • Organising the Student Activity Programme
  • Supporting an active Students’ Council.
  • Support you if you are experiencing problems while at the College.

Our team will assist with your journey at the college, providing support where you need it to ensure that your time at CNWL is successful and enjoyable. 

Services are free, confidential, impartial, and non-judgemental.

Student Activity Programme

There are a vast amount of sporting opportunities on offer to you through the Colleges Student Activity Programme.

The Student Activity Programme is a range of sports and social activities in and outside of the College available to our students.You can join activities either free of charge or at a discount depending on your age.

Learner Voice

The College believes that learners’ voice/opinions count and are important. We want to hear what you have to say so that we can improve yours and everyone’s learning experience.

If you want to make a difference to other learners lives at the college, you can get involved and consider becoming a Course Rep, Faculty Rep and/ or Ambassador.

Comments & Complaints

The College Complaint procedure is available on MOODLE, forms are available from the Reception area and Student Services. Throughout your time at College you will be asked to complete various surveys in order for us to review your learning experience.

Student Support

Our Student Support Liaison Officers work with all students who are experiencing difficulties both within College and outside. They can assist you if you are experiencing attendance and punctuality issues and give expert advice on the support available.

Events and Enrichment

The SLT team offer a wide range of events, enrichment activities and awareness days over the course of the academic year. In addition to the Student Activity Programme we have a well-developed events programme incorporating: Black History Month, Mental Health Awareness day, World Aids day, Dragons Den events, E-Safety day, LGBT month, Drug Awareness day, Best of British and Diversity day. We also have a have a hugely successful Student Ambassador programme that you could apply to be involved with, which recruits and trains up to 30 Student Ambassadors every academic year to represent the College at: Open Evenings, Focus Groups, Staff Interview panels and other cross-college events. All our enrichment activities are aimed at raising your awareness and to enrich your time while at the College.

Our Officers are at hand to provide impartial one-to-one careers advice with an individual targeted action plan for you at the end of the session.

Student Finance and Welfare Team

The costs associated with studying can sometimes be quite scary. The College has support available to assist with the costs of transport, meals, books and equipment. This support is a grant and means it does not need to be paid back to us. The Learner Support Administrator can provide more information to you based on your individual circumstances.

Learning Resource Centre (LRC)

Advice and support around studying independently and researching for assignments. Access to resources such as books, online journals, and other study materials.

Learning Support Team

We are here to help students in college who have a range of additional support needs. We are committed to providing inclusive education in a safe and positive environment. Our team of dedicated staff are experienced and knowledgeable, and are available to listen in confidence and guide you towards the best solution to meet your needs.

Mental Health

If you have mental health difficulties, or find it difficult to cope at any time during your course you can meet with our Mental Health coordinator. We will also do our best to make reasonable adjustments to meet your individual needs, whilst respecting your confidentiality. If you need someone to talk to we can arrange that too.
