This two day course is designed specifically for domestic installers who wish to learn how to install, fault find and inspect and test domestic electric car charging points. 

With the recent announcements from the government regarding petrol and diesel cars it is estimated that by 2020 there will be 1.2 million electric cars on the road and by 2030 50% of vehicles produced will be either electric or plug-in hybrid.

This course has been designed to give you in-depth knowledge to be able to take advantage of this rapidly growing and exciting new market.

Please note if you are fully qualified Level 3 electrician then you may want to take this two day course.

How is the course taught?

The course will be taught in both the classroom and workshop environment.

What facilities and resources are available?

Electronic resources from the college Learning Resource Center, will be available to support learning.

What are the expected employment areas with this course?

Installation of electric vehicle charge-points (based on Electrical Installation capabilities and qualifications)

What qualification do I get on completing this course?

EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points

Is there additional work required by the student?

Course work will be a mix of both manual and portfolio work.

What are the Entry Requirements?

Level 2 Diploma or above in Electrical Installations
