Last week, coinciding with International Women’s Day (8 March) and Women in Construction Week (6-12 March), members of the College of North West London’s Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment team joined a number of West London colleges, employers, business partners – and around 100 women looking for careers in construction - in attending a networking event hosted by Women into Construction.
Women into Construction is an independent not-for-profit organisation that promotes gender equality in construction. The aim of the event was to help launch the careers of more women in the construction industry.
An estimated 11% of the UK’s current workforce in the construction sector are women, and with an anticipated need for an additional 200,000+ construction employees by 2025 – combined with the sector actively reaching out to women and helping to break down industry stereotypes, this could be a great career option.
