United Colleges Group (UCG) is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new careers hub, equipped to support learners at college and beyond.
Based at our Paddington Green Campus, World of Work has been created as a careers advice, work experience and employment centre to help all students from two colleges — City of Westminster College and College of North West London — across five campuses on their journey to employment, placements or university.
Within the World of Work, UCG students will receive one-on-one support with finding work experience, CV writing, job searching and how to present during interviews in a professional but welcoming environment. The hub has individual workstations, modern private pods for confidential discussions and to meet employers for interview preparation, as well as professional seating zones.
The area has also been designed to be utilised by UCG’s extensive network of employers to meet and speak with applicants about current vacancies. In addition, employers will support masterclass events at the World of Work, enabling groups of students to meet employers via presentations, support, and advice.
UCG invited students, staff and employers to the opening of the hub last week, with Group Principal & CEO Stephen Davis and Six Senses’ Claire Frost cutting the ribbon.
Stephen Davis, Group Principal and CEO of the United Colleges Group, said: “United Colleges Group continues to create pathways to real-world, tangible careers for our students, while providing new platforms for employers to engage with them, demonstrated in our future-focused World of Work hub at our Paddington campus. We take great pride in providing our students with a first-rate educational experience at UCG, fostering ambition
and expanding their opportunities in life; we make the possible probable for our learners, empowering them to achieve their full potential.”
Deepak Chavda, Senior Social Value Manager of St George, part of the Berkley Group, said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to the launch of World of Work space. Having a dedicated space where students can access information about careers - and for the college to have a dedicated space for employers who can have meaningful engagement with students - is essential to support employers in addressing skills gaps, while providing students with pathways to opportunities and social mobility.”
Co-Founder of Thoth London Stacy Hunt, said: "This hub promises to revolutionise the student experience. As a co-founder of a Climate Tech and Sustainability consultancy, we recognise the immense value of such initiatives. The World of Work is not merely a physical space; it is a beacon of empowerment. It offers students across UCG, City of Westminster College and College of North West London personalised career advice, work experience opportunities and a pathway to meaningful employment. But beyond the infrastructure and resources, there was something magical....the warm embrace of community.”
Dom Thompson of Unloc said: "I had a fantastic day representing Unloc alongside inspiring industry specialists at the new opening of UCG’s World of Work. It was great to see the space and meet students and staff who discussed how the new space will connect learners with careers advice and work experience opportunities."
