This qualification is designed for experienced plumbing and heating engineers aiming to upskill in the installation and maintenance of air source heat pump (ASHP) systems. The course provides comprehensive training aligned with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) requirements, enabling learners to proficiently install, commission, and maintain ASHP systems in domestic and small commercial settings.

Course Content

  • Health and Safety: Understand the risks and safe systems of work associated with ASHP systems.
  • Regulations and Standards: Learn the requirements of regulations and standards related to the installation, testing, and commissioning of ASHP systems.
  • System Components: Gain knowledge of the purpose and operational characteristics of ASHP system components.
  • System Types and Design: Explore different types of ASHP systems, hydraulic emitter circuits, and the principles of system selection and design.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Develop skills to plan, prepare, install, test, commission, and hand over ASHP systems.
  • Maintenance and Fault Diagnosis: Learn routine service procedures and fault diagnosis techniques for ASHP systems.

Entry Requirements

A full Level 3 Plumbing and Heating qualification and evidence of recent CPD and work experience if your qualification is more than 5 years old.

Course Duration

The course is delivered over 3 days, combining classroom instruction with hands-on practical training.
