Details

Are you a young person aged 16 – 24 with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP), motivated to develop skills for work, independence and secure paid employment?

A Supported Internship is a work-based study programme that helps young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) move into paid employment. It provides real workplace experience, personalised learning and onsite job coaching support.

UCG partners with employers across a wide range of sectors, including retail, hospitality, administration, facilities, health & social Care and the creative industries. Students will have the opportunity to rotate in different roles, building a broad set of workplace skills.

Why Choose Supported Internships at UCG?

  • Gain real workplace experience with our host employers
  • Receive dedicated support from a trained job coach, with guidance at every stage of your work rotations
  • Develop key employability skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving, while growing in confidence and independence
  • Obtain City & Guilds Employability Skills qualification / English and Maths qualifications at an appropriate level
  • Progress towards paid employment or further training, with students securing roles with their internship provider
