Financial Support for 19+ Year-olds

Students aged 19 years or older at the start of their course can apply for this fund.

Students on low incomes may be entitled to financial support towards:

  • Tuition Fees
  • Travel: To qualify for travel support, a student must live beyond a 3-mile radius from the College. The amount of money awarded for travel is based on the number of timetabled days and the distance to the College.
  • Materials & High Kit Costs: Discretionary bursaries are awarded for materials and high kit costs (e.g., hairdressing kits and books where books are not available to loan from the Learning Resources Centre). This is in the form of a one-off payment, either paid to the department or directly to the student’s bank account within the academic year.
  • Childcare
    • 3-23 months: Up to £210.00 per week.
    • 2-11 years: Up to £180.00 per week.

Students can only apply for childcare support once their bursary has been approved. The childcare provider needs to be OFSTED registered, and students must provide full birth certificates for the child/ren.

Payments

Payments contribute to study costs but do not cover all expenses.

Asylum seekers receiving NASS support will receive either in-kind support (such as bus tickets) or monetary funds if they have their own bank account.

Approved applicants will receive funds distributed throughout the year onto their student cards. These funds can be used for lunch and course materials purchased via the bursary store. Funds for travel will be deposited into their bank accounts based on their mode of study (full-time or part-time). All payments are contingent upon students maintaining a minimum attendance of 85% per week.
