This course is designed to help native English language speakers, or people who have lived in the UK for 8 years or more and have a good command of the English language, to improve their skills in reading and writing. Our Functional Skills courses are delivered at Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 on an 18 or 36 week basis. Courses are typically taught for 3 hours on one day per week. At the interview stage of the application process you will be assessed to see which level is best suited to your needs.

You will develop your verbal communication, reading and writing skills for everyday life, work and study.

How is the course taught?

You will do individual, group and pair work in class to improve your English skills. You will also have the opportunity to use computers to help improve your English reading and writing skills.
